History of Legacy Lodge

Legacy Lodge opened in the fall of 2016.    Bids were reviewed by a committee in late August 2015 with the offering of the contract for construction being awarded in September 2015.  This process began with the Hill Top Home of Comfort Board of Directors and the Hill Top Heritage Foundation Board of Directors voted to join in the project.

A committee composed of members from both Hill Top Home of Comfort and the Hill Top Heritage Foundation met often with the architect picking out the finishing touches for the building.  During the summer of 2016 the Foundation Board voted to provide additional funds to build the garages for the facility.

“It was a proud moment when the open house was held,” stated Sheila Murphy, Foundation President.  “We had hoped to accomplish this goal for ten years and seeing it become reality was wonderful.”

History of Hill Top Home of Comfort

Hill Top, a non-profit long term skilled care facility, officially opened for business in November 1988.  Planning for the nursing home began four years earlier when land was donated for the home and neighboring park.

One wing on the home has been converted into a Special Care Unit and the addition of Legacy Lodge allows tenants that reside there and have a loved one in Hill Top to visit without walking outdoors.

Hill Top has 60 full time employees and 55 residents.

Hill Top Heritage Foundation History

The Hill Top Heritage Foundation was established to provide financial support to the Hill Top Home of Comfort.  The mission of the foundation is “to empower Hill Top Home of Comfort to excel in providing care in a homelike environment and assist in assuring a stable future by establishing strong financial resources and community involvement.”  The Foundation receives and administers gifts of money, real estate, mineral deeds, and other assets.

To ensure continued long-term care in our community, the Foundation also sponsors fundraisers such as the annual steak fry and auction held in October and the golf scramble held in June.  Proceeds from these major fundraisers and other money-making projects have been used to make life easier and more pleasant for residents of the home.

The Hill Top Heritage Foundation is a non-profit organization, so donations are tax-deductible.
